Hall of Fame Awards 2019
The 2019 Hall of Fame award was given to Mr. Agnello Dias, Co-Founder and CCO Taproot Dentsu India and the Master Storyteller award was posthumously bestowed to Late Rituparno Ghosh. The evening also witnessed a unique mesmerizing performance by Pt. Bickram Ghosh on percussions, Pt. Purbayan Chatterjee on Sitar accompanied by Mrs. Jaya Seal Ghosh and Gayatri in dance and vocals respectively.
Hall of Fame 2017
Advertising Club Calcutta inducted the legendary Mr. Piyush Pandey, Executive Chairman & Creative Director, Ogilvy & Mather India and South Asia on 4th February, 2017 at Calcutta Rowing Club. The veteran actor & adman Mr. Dhritiman (Sundar) Chaterji was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award on the same day.

A Clio jury member, the first Asian to be the president of the Cannes jury, the only Indian to have won three Grand Prixs at the London International Advertising Awards, Piyush Pandey is the most celebrated Indian Adman across the world with many more accolades to his name. Touching people’s lives with commercials like Kuch Khas Hai, Fevikwik, Mile sur mera tumhara and many more, Mr. Pandey’s contribution to Indian advertising have been phenomenal.

Sundar, popularly known as Dhritiman Chaterji, on the other hand had started his career in advertising when print advertisement was the most dominant media. With memorable campaigns during his days at Hindustan Thompson and Response he created an indelible mark in Calcutta’s advertising scenario. Not just in advertising but he is an exponential actor having acted in 44 films in 6 languages in India and abroad.

With Anjan & Amyt Dutta weaving magic with their signature songs, it was an evening well celebrated with the who’s-who from the advertising and marketing world.
Hall of Fame 2015
Advertising Club Calcutta, this year inducted the ‘Thandawala Banda’, the wordsmith, one of the doyens of advertising, Mr. Prasoon Joshi (Chairman, Asia-Pacific & CEO, McCann Worldgroup India) to the Ad Club’s Hall of Fame. Winner of multiple awards nationally and internationally, Joshi exemplifies a rare breed of creativity and leadership. This icon is not just behind mega brands like Coca Cola, Mastercard, Perfetti, Nestle, GM etc but also a renowned song & scriptwriter in the Film Industry (Bollywood).

Late Daleep Kakkar was also felicitated with posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution in elevating the Audio-Visual Medium to a level that became a benchmark for the AVs used in today’s corporate world. The Award was received by his wife, Ms. Mira Kakkar.

The evening at CRC also witnessed a mind-boggling panel discussion “Client & Agency – is the marriage still working?” featuring Mr. Prasoon Joshi, Mr. Patha Sinha (Director, South Asia Publicis), Mr. Hemant Malik (COO, ITC Ltd.) & Mr. Sumanto Chattopadhay (Executive Creative Director, Asia, Ogilvy & Mather).
Hall of Fame 2014
The banquets were abuzz with members of the nation’s advertising fraternity as well as Senior Bureaucrats of the State, Brand owners, Media, Marketing & Advertising professionals as well as celebrities from the world of Art, Music, Literature and Films, as they came together to induct Mr. Ram Ray (Chairman, Response Group) and Mr. Nirvik Singh (CEO & Chairman, Grey Group Asia Pacific ) to Advertising Club Calcutta's Hall of Fame.

Mr. Mrityunjay Chatterjee (Founder and Director, Thoughtshop Communications) and Mr. Vivek Das, (Celebrated Photographer) were also felicitated with special recognition awards for their contribution to the world of advertising.

The evening was also graced by a musical performance by percussion virtuoso, Mr.Bickram Ghosh.
  Nirvik Singh, CEO & Chairman, Grey Group Asia Pacific :

Nirvik Singh began his career with GREY as head of GREY Kolkata at the age of 26 and helped GREY Kolkata become the city’s second largest ad agency, winning ‘Agency of the Year’ title for 4 consecutive years. He rose to head GREY India in 1997 and became the COO of GREY South Asia in 1998.

In 2005, he was named Chairman and CEO of GREY South/South East Asia and CEO of G2 Asia Pacific in 2007. In 2009, he was appointed to his current position as Chairman and CEO of GREY Asia Pacific.

He has served on the jury of the Asian Marketing Effectiveness Awards and was on the inaugural Cannes jury for Creative Effectiveness. He also served on the organizing committee of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. His recognitions include ‘Bharat Nirman Rattan’ Award by the National Integration & Economic Council, and ‘Agency Head of the Year’ by Hong Kong’s Media Magazine, amongst other accolades.
  Mr. Ram Ray, Chairman, Response Group:

One of the most iconic names in Indian Advertising, Ram Ray has spent 51 years in management and marketing communications at J WALTER THOMPSON India / USA, BATES India and RESPONSE India.

While at JWT, Ray served on the Management Boards of JWT India and JWT USA. He was, and remains, the only non-American to hold a Management Board position at JWT USA and led one of its most happening agencies, JWT San Francisco. At JWT USA, he also helped identify the company’s growth opportunities, evaluate the Western markets of the USA, and blueprint JWT Dallas’ start-up. He led the creation of a JWT agency in Colombo and initiated a network of affiliates in West Asia.

During his illustrious career, Ray has worked closely with at least 2000 marketing and communication professionals, and more than 200 diverse businesses and NGOs in India and USA.
  Mr. Mrityunjay Chatterjee, Founder and Director, Thoughtshop Communication:

Mrityunjay Chatterjee left Engineering College and joined the Government College of Arts in 1963. Starting as a cut-paste artist in Clarion McCann, then the country’s 2nd largest advertising agency, he steadily rose up the ranks to become a Director in Clarion’s creative hub, working his magic on great brands such as ITC, Dunlop, Nestle, Bata, Lipton, Tata and others.

A fiercely independent spirit, he left to create Thoughtshop Communication in 1982, a boutique creative agency that managed to stand its own against bigger peers through brilliant communication, launching well-loved brands in the city such as Patton, Kookie Jar, Century Ply and Vedic Village. For over 3 decades, he has mentored numerous communication professionals, who have successfully held aloft his creative legacy in their careers.
  Mr. Vivek Das, Celebrated Photographer :

At the age of 5, he took his first photograph with a Rolliflex camera, and destiny clicked in place. An alumnus of St. Xavier’s School, Kolkata and XLRI, Jamshdepur, even an MBA degree couldn’t cure the bite of the shutterbug.

Numerous awards, accolades and international recognitions later, he is today one of the city’s premier photographers, revered by the fraternity, and renowned as a pioneer and innovator in his field.

He has also held prestigious offices such as Chairman of the Advertising & Industrial Photographers’ Association of India, Eastern Zone and is an Honorary Life member of the Photographic Association of Bengal. With his acumen and pioneering spirit, he has been a mentor and an inspiration to many young photographers.
